Epoxy formulations have been an important aspect of the building industry for the past many years now. For floor applications, epoxy floor coatings specifically are commonly used, and it is important to know about some facts of this important coating material.
The key behind high performing epoxy coatings are the epoxy resins which form as the core materials in formulating quality epoxy based primers, top coats and sealants. The epoxy floor coatings will perform well on floor finishes, as protective coats, as fire retardants, as a waterproofing coat, and contribute to damage resistance paints, all because of these resins.

Epoxy floor coatings contain pigments that will expand fast when there is exposure to heat, making the coatings good fire retardants. As the pigments expand, it serves as a barrier protection that lasts long enough until the fire is put off.
Note that epoxy floor coatings are effective in several surfaces because of its water borne, high solids or solvent borne properties.
